Health and safety, from summer 2027
An optional add-on to your plan. We set up what the law asks of your premises, send the reminders and keep the records, and a qualified health and safety adviser will answer anything Mirith can’t.
- Up to 5 staff
- £25 a month + VAT at 20% (£30 a month including VAT)
- Each extra employee
- £2 a month + VAT at 20% (£2.40 a month including VAT)
- Starts
- Summer 2027, with offices, shops, salons and clinics
Hospitality and trades follow later. You can tick it when you reserve: we won’t charge for it until it’s ready, and we’ll ask you before adding it to your subscription.
What the law asks of a small employer
Here are the basics the law sets for a small, low-risk business, and what we do for each. What we do comes with the add-on, unless it says it’s part of your plan.
-
The rule
First aid: a stocked kit, someone in charge, and staff told the arrangements
What it means for youEvery workplace needs a suitably stocked first aid kit, someone appointed to take charge of first aid, and information telling staff the arrangements. Whether you also need trained first-aiders depends on your first aid needs assessment. Their certificates last 3 years.
What we doA first aid needs check, and reminders before anyone’s certificate runs out.
-
The rule
A fire risk assessment, recorded in full
What it means for youIn England and Wales, every business has had to record its fire risk assessment in full, with all its findings, since 1 October 2023, whatever its size.
What we doA fire risk assessment for simple premises, and reminders for fire alarm tests and extinguisher servicing.
-
The rule
A risk assessment, and a written policy at 5 or more staff
What it means for youEvery employer must assess the risks to their staff. Once you have 5 or more employees, you must write your health and safety policy down and record the significant findings of your risk assessment.
What we doYour policy and risk assessments, from templates a qualified health and safety adviser will sign off before the add-on starts. Without the add-on, Mirith reminds you of the written policy once you have 5 or more staff, and links the free template from the Health and Safety Executive (HSE).
-
The rule
Training and information for staff who use screens
What it means for youStaff who use a computer or other screen as a regular part of their work must get health and safety training and information about it.
What we doScreen workstation checks, and a short staff course on screen work.
-
The rule
Employers’ liability insurance
What it means for youIt helps you pay compensation if a member of staff is injured or made ill by their work. Most employers must have at least £5 million of cover and put the certificate where staff can see it. You can be fined £2,500 for every day you’re not properly insured.
What we doPart of your plan from January 2027: we record your insurer, renewal date and where the certificate is shown. With the add-on, we also remind you before it renews.
-
The rule
The health and safety law poster
What it means for youIf you employ anyone, you must display the poster where staff can easily read it, or give each worker the equivalent leaflet.
What we doPart of your plan from January 2027: we record where the poster is shown, or that each worker has the leaflet.
If an HSE inspector finds a material breach, something serious enough that they formally write to you about it, HSE charges £188 an hour for the time it takes to identify what’s wrong and help you put it right.
What it includes
Everything is built for low-risk premises, from templates a qualified health and safety adviser will sign off before it starts.
Set up for your premises
- Your health and safety policy
- Risk assessments
- A fire risk assessment for simple premises
- A first aid needs check
- Screen workstation checks
- An accident book
- A health and safety induction in each new starter’s link
Kept up all year
- A calendar that sends reminders and keeps the records: fire alarm tests, extinguisher servicing, first aid certificates, electrical checks and your insurance renewal
- Short staff courses on fire, screen work and manual handling
- A qualified health and safety adviser for anything Mirith can’t answer
We tell you what the law needs, not what someone wants to sell you
Take PAT testing, the electrical testing of portable appliances. Testing them every year isn’t a legal requirement. The law requires electrical equipment that could cause injury to be kept safe, and in low-risk places like offices, visual checks by a trained member of staff are often enough, with no electrician needed.
The same goes for the add-on itself. HSE says the steps are straightforward for most small, low-risk businesses, so many owners can do them themselves. The add-on is for owners who’d rather we set it all up and kept the records.
When a job needs someone on site
We don’t do in-person work. For first aid courses, PAT testing where it’s needed, extinguisher servicing, electrical inspections and fire risk assessments for complex premises, we can book a vetted local partner at a fixed price. We may receive a referral fee from them.

Questions
Is any health and safety in my plan without the add-on?
Yes, where it overlaps with HR. From January 2027, we record your employers’ liability insurance and the health and safety law poster, and if you have 5 or more staff, Mirith reminds you that your policy must be written down and links HSE’s free template.
Risk assessments for a pregnant employee, a worker under 18 or one person’s work-related stress are part of your plan, and staff can raise a safety worry with your HR expert in the app.
I run a cafe or a building firm. Can I have it?
Not at first. Hospitality and trades follow later. When you reserve, you can ask us to tell you when it’s ready for your business, and that isn’t charged.
Who answers my health and safety questions?
When the add-on starts, Mirith answers from our approved library, and a qualified health and safety adviser answers anything it can’t and reviews risk assessments.
Do you visit my premises?
No. Jobs that need someone on site go to vetted local partners at fixed prices, and we may receive a referral fee from them.
When will I be charged?
Not until the add-on is ready in summer 2027, and only once you’ve said yes: we’ll ask you before adding it to your subscription.
